From presenting in front of a class, to a job interview, there are potential consequences of not performing at your best, which is why generalized anxiety disorder exhibits itself in millions of individuals throughout the world.

Anxiety is not only in your head. Many individuals have a physical reaction to the anxiety as well. Their backs and shoulders might tighten up. The tighter muscles then develop into knots, which can directly affect the person's anxiety, making it worse and exacerbating the symptoms. Now when the person experiences anxiety, their back and various other body parts might begin to hurt, which can result in them fearing the situation even more. By alleviating pain and freeing up the body’s tension, it helps lower anxiety levels and, potentially, frees the body from anxiety entirely (at least in some situtations).

Due to the fact that anxiety affects various areas of the body, such as the lower back, neck and shoulders, a licensed massage therapist is able to work these areas where the tension is. By working the tight, tense areas, the oxytocin and serotonin in the body increase, which alleviates stress throughout the body. On top of this, just feeling more relaxed will allow the individual to reduce their anxiety level, as well as the body does not instantly become tense and sore when thinking about a specific experience that typically results in increased anxiety levels. By suddenly not having the tight, sore feeling, it is possible to avoid falling into similar anxiety patterns they formerly were forced deal with.
